African Catwalk at Europe's New Photo Art Museum.

Falsterbo Photo Art Museum in Sweden shows its first special exhibition with a Swedish photographer. With African Catwalk, the Swedish photographer Per-Anders Pettersson takes us behind the scenes of the fashion weeks of Africa’s growing fashion industry.

We get to see an innovative side of the continent, with success and faith in the future, and fashion far away from the common stereotypes of animal prints and ethnic patterns. For the first time, the emerging African fashion industry is documented in a series of photographs from 16 countries around Africa during 2010 – 2015. Inclusion, who and what is seen in the images is currently a major issue in the fashion world. Through African Catwalk, we gain insight into the booming fashion scenes of a new Africa, which claims its own culture and cultural heritage. The exhibition is shown alongside the photo museum’s first exhibition Dressed for Success - 100 Years of Fashion Photography that runs until January 9, 2022. (Image: 001 African Catwalk.
