Business is beautiful
Business is beautiful says AC Coppen from the agency The Catalysts, the business partner in the consortium of digital arts organisations in DIS Digital Inter/Section. You can make money out of something that you are passionate about.
The Catalysts conducted a market study, reporting on the challenges of business models and providing sustainable solutions for digital art and culture organisations. The report, The business of digital art: Economic models and insights into the future, is available as open source, true to the vision of Digital Inter/Section.
“The dislike that the art world has for business terminology and mindset might be one of the strongest opposing forces in the way of economical success, but also a powerful asset in an innovative approach to building bridges: as experts of the digital forms of art, proven to be able to create alliances with private companies (bringing technologies or business competences, or both), the digital arts sector is well placed to get the most out of new technologies whilst ensuring a human centric and conscious shift towards them.”
Alongside carrying out four pilot projects experimenting the diversification of the economic models of four digital arts and culture organisations, Digital Inter/Section enables the whole sector to experiment in their own local contexts by publishing European-wide macro and micro studies, reports, toolkits and how to’s.
